Man wrecks car on
U.S. 72, flees on foot

CAPSHAW — A driver who wrecked his car into a ditch took off on foot before help could arrive.

State troopers and the Limestone County Sheriff's Department received a call from a witness who said the driver wrecked in front of Moonwalk and Party Rentals on U.S. 72 East.

The caller said the driver, a Hispanic male, then exited the vehicle and ran north from U.S. 72.

The vehicle, a white Chevrolet Lumina, has a Fayette County license plate.

East Limestone Volunteer Fire Department responded but found no one in the car.

Authorities don't know why the driver ran. The wreck did not injure anyone or any property.
