Falkville OKs school for defensive driving
FALKVILLE — The Falkville Town Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance establishing a defensive driving school in association with the National Safety Council.
The council also approved water-billing clerk Wilda Jeffers as one of the instructors and paying her $75 per each four-hour class. Jeffers, who attended school to become accredited, will assist Falkville Police Chief Chris Free.
Free said the town will start taking referrals at Municipal Court on July 9. He expects the school to begin by July 28.
For a $100 fee, eligible drivers charged with minor traffic violations will have the opportunity to attend the school and have the charges dismissed.
