Fire breaks out during bath time

Firefighters dealt with a blaze in the 1900 block of Montgomery Street Southwest on Thursday afternoon. Decatur fire Lt. Mickey Poole said the woman who lives there was in an awkward position when the fire began at about 1:18 p.m.

“The homeowner was taking a shower, but she was out the back when we got there,” Poole said.

No one was injured, but the back wall and attic of the home suffered heavy fire damage. Poole said most of the home’s interior and most contents were not badly damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
