Cullman wreck claims 2 lives

A one-vehicle accident early Sunday killed the driver and passenger.

The wreck occurred at 2:30 a.m. on Cullman County 1742, two miles east of Holly Pond.

Gary Jacob Davis, 22, of Cullman and his passenger, Desiree Renee Roberts, 20, of Holy Pond were killed, according to trooper reports.

Prison escapee in Morgan jail

A man who reportedly escaped from the state Department of Corrections was caught Sunday and put in the Morgan County jail.

Jail records show that James Early Bright, 41, is being held as a fugitive from justice.

The report lists him as
homeless in the Lacey’s Spring area.

No details were available about the alleged escape or capture.

Teenager hurt at Point Mallard

A teenager was injured in the Olympic pool at Point Mallard Park on Sunday, according to Decatur Fire and Rescue personnel.

The teen suffered a water injury that was not life threatening, a firefighter said.

An ambulance transported her to Decatur General Hospital.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m.
