3 allegedly steal furniture in Athens

ATHENS — An Athens officer caught three men trying to steal furniture from a mobile home on Friday.

Officer Cortny Barksdale received a call about glass breaking near Water Oaks Apartments at 3:05 a.m., police said. While checking the complex, Barksdale drove through the nearby parking lot at the Mental Health Center.

He saw a man at one of the centerís trailers, and then saw a broken window and heard someone inside. Barksdale ordered the man to exit and learned a third man was inside.

Barksdale called for backup, and police arrested William Luquin Xhurape, 21, of 21623 Martin Road, Tanner; and Jose Dticiva Flores, 34, and Eliodoro Luquin Xhurape, 20, both of Huntsville, and charged them with third-degree burglary.

Capt. Marty Bruce said the trio allegedly were stealing a chest of drawers, mattress and box spring from the mobile home.
