Chemicollection at Public Works

Decatur and Morgan County residents may get rid of unused household chemicals Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Decatur Public Works complex at 1802 Central Parkway S.W.

Hexcel is sponsoring this month’s event and will assist with the collection.

Acceptable chemicals include paints, paint products, used motor oil, antifreeze, automotive products, auto and household batteries and lawn and garden products such as weed and bug killers. All chemicals should be in original containers or labeled as to contents.

There is a 5-gallon or 50-pound limit per household.

Unacceptable items include farm and business chemicals, unknown chemicals, explosives, medical or radioactive wastes, flares, gas cylinders and tires.
