DUs service manager worked way up ranks

Interim General Manager Stan Keenum began the Decatur Utilities board meeting Wednesday by introducing Anena Maxwell, DUs new customer service manager.

A 26-year employee of DU, Maxwell worked her way up through the customer service department.

Ive always handled complaints, Maxwell said. Now I take the complaints no one else can handle and try to resolve them.

Also at the meeting, the board:

  • Approved $29,400 to replace two sets of three disconnects with gang operated switches on new steel poles at Danville and Modaus roads Southwest.

  • Approved $14,000 to replace two 40-foot wood poles at 1402 Southfield Drive S.E.

  • Approved $11,300 to replace three 40-foot wood poles at 1317 Southfield Drive S.E.

  • Approved $72,300 to relocate and adjust water mains, valves, hydrants and meters on Sandlin Road between Clearview Street and 14th Street S.W.

  • Approved $38,300 to replace and adjust wastewater mains, manholes and appurtenances on Sandlin Road between Clearview Street and 14th Street S.W.

  • Approved $12,000 to buy and install a hydrogen sulfide analyzer.
