Narcotics agents found six children inside an alleged drug house during a raid, Decatur police said Friday.
Agents seized powder cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia during the search Thursday at Vieux Carre, 3526 U.S. 31 S., Apartment 2-F, said Sgt. Faron White, head of the organized crime unit.
Police arrested three of the six adults found at the apartment and left three to care for the children.
"The ladies were not arrested so that they could take care of their kids. Charges are pending on them now," White said.
The grandmother of some of the children was also at the residence but will not face charges, White said.
"All the kids were in the same room. They were playing PlayStation and stuff like that. They weren't where the drugs were found," said White.
One of the residents, Daniel Rashun Jones, 26, had to be taken to Decatur General Hospital when investigators learned he had swallowed some powder cocaine, said Investigator Matt Chance.
After Jones received treatment for cocaine poisoning, police took him to Decatur City Jail on charges of possessing a controlled substance, possessing drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
He will be transferred to Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of $1,750.
Police also arrested Davin Arthur Pillar, 26, of 2908 Frost Drive S.W., and Tifffany Michelle Malone, 23, of 1012 19th Ave. S.E., each on charges of possessing a controlled substance and loitering in a drug house. They will be transferred to Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of $1,250 each.
