3 children buried after slain by dad

MONTGOMERY (AP) — Services for Ereal, Ehren and Evin Robinson, the Montgomery children killed by their father, drew many mourners.

Police said Eric Robinson shot the children on July 15 — his 12th wedding anniversary — and then killed himself after his estranged wife took out a warrant accusing him of violating a protective order.

Elliott Jolly, a cousin of the victims, ages 4, 6 and 11, said itís a sad situation, so he attended the funeral to try to encourage the family ďas much as we can.Ē

Jolly said itís good that so many came out to share with the family their condolences.

ďItís bad that it had to be about something like this,Ē he said.

After services at Carver High School, the children — two boys and a girl— were laid to rest at Alabama Heritage Cemetery. A fund in the childrenís memory has been opened at Regions Bank.

Meanwhile, the Montgomery Advertiser reported Sunday that Robinson, who had prior convictions dating to 1988, should have been in jail on the day of the shootings.

Only three days before, Robinson stood before Municipal Judge Troy Massey and pleaded guilty to harassing his wife, Brenda. Massey sentenced him to 180 days behind bars, then suspended the jail time.

Two months earlier, Robinson had appeared before Municipal Judge Darron Hendley and pleaded not guilty to another charge of domestic violence, a third-degree misdemeanor, and violation of a family protection order.
