Cancer Society fundraiser falls short

The American Cancer Society’s annual Morgan County Golf Championship fell short of its $25,000 goal Monday.

The event at Burningtree Country Club drew 34 four-person teams, about six fewer than organizers hoped to get.

Each team generated $400.

Fundraising results were incomplete, as the receipts from the silent auction, putting contest, bottomless beverage cup, door-prize tickets and
mulligans still had to be counted.

Beth Tutwiler, Cancer Society spokeswoman, said based on previous silent auctions, the overall total would fall somewhere between $20,000 and the goal.

Anyone wanting to contribute can contact Tutwiler at (256) 535-1082.
