Crowne Point expansion plan approved

Despite protests from residents, the Decatur Planning Commission approved Tuesday a preliminary plan for expanding Crowne Point Subdivision southeast of Decatur.

During discussion, residents already living in the subdivision near Burningtree Country Club raised concerns that lots in the new portion are too small and will interrupt the flow of the development.

The commission overruled those concerns, noting the subdivision is not inside the city limits.

The development is expected to be annexed into the city at a later date.

A spokesman for developer Doug Harless said they intend to keep the same covenant rules throughout the subdivision.
