Gillespie gets scholarship

Robin Gillespie of Moulton has received a University of North Alabama Pride of Dixie Band scholarship. He played in the Lawrence County High School band and in The University of Alabama band.

He is the son of Sandy and Paula Gillespie.

Colella on deanís lost

Mackenzie Colella of Athens has been named to the deanís list at the Virginia Military Institute for the 2007 spring semester. To be eligible for the list, a cadet must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 with no grade below C.

Maryville deanís list

Andrew Alfano and Kathleen Warner, both of Decatur, have been named to the deanís list at Maryville College in Tennessee.

To be eligible for the list, a student must maintain at least a 3.6 grade point average.

Sigma Alpha Lambda

Whitney Brooke Watts of Hartselle has been named to the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization. She is a student at The University of Alabama.

Priceville orientation

Priceville Elementary School will hold orientation Aug. 5. Kindergarten, first-grade and second-grade students will meet from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., and grades 3-5 will follow from 3 until 4.

Parents and students will go directly to the teachersí classrooms. Everyone will go to the gym for the last 15 minutes for general announcements.
