Athens City Clerk John Hamilton inadvertently provided the wrong information for Monday’s story answering readers’ questions regarding the Aug. 14 wet-dry referendum.

The average annual revenue from alcohol tax is $500,000. The city splits that with the Athens city Board of Education, so each entity keeps $250,000 a year.

An article in Saturday’s edition should have said former Morgan County Commissioner Charles Sparkman died Friday. His wife’s name is Faye Sparkman.
