Police probing cemetery thefts

Someone is stealing bronze flower vases from Roselawn Cemetery.

Lt. Chris Mathews of the Decatur Police Department said cemetery manager Robert Clem reported 50 were stolen during a four-month period.

"We don't know for sure what they're doing with them, but it's possible they're being sold for scrap metal," Mathews said.

Mathews said police have some leads but are asking businesses dealing in scrap metal to be alert for anything suspicious. If you have information about the thefts, please call the Police Department at 353-2515.
