Yacht club makes donation for safety
Nathalyne Cucarola, commodore of the Riverwalk Yacht Club, presented Morgan County Rescue Squad Chief Tony Weikert with a check for $1,000 on Friday. The donation will go toward a new boat the squad is raising money to buy.
Cucarola said squad members are volunteers who put themselves in harm’s way to help others.
“The Riverwalk Yacht Club is very concerned with safety for all boaters, and if the need for the rescue squad’s service is ever required, we want them to have the best equipment available,” he said. “We are delighted to help support the squad in the acquisition of a boat with ambulance and fire-fighting equipment, which will give them the ability to provide rescue victims with better care and also protection from the elements for themselves.”
Weikert said the squad decided to purchase the 27-foot Sea Ark, which will cost about $173,000.
