Mom, 3 children OK

A spokeswoman at Decatur General Hospital said doctors treated and released Lorene Parrish, 40, and her three children Saturday after she apparently lost control of her sport utility vehicle. The wreck occurred about noon at Old Moulton and Kirby Bridge roads. Zip Barron retrieves his mail from a broken mailbox he erected Friday. A witness said the vehicle also broke a utility pole, bringing down power lines and a traffic signal. Barronís neighbor Bill Owens said he, Barron and another man removed the three children, who were dangling upside down in their child restraint seats. State troopers, Decatur police, Decatur Fire and Rescue, Mud Tavern Volunteer Fire Department and workers from Joe Wheeler Electric Membership Corporation worked the scene.
