Falkville OKs 3-way stop near schools
FALKVILLE — The Falkville Town Council on Tuesday adopted an ordinance that should help make traffic flow smoother near the schools.
The measure calls for a three-way stop at First Street and Fifth Avenue, and one-way traffic between Clark Drive and Fifth Avenue on First Street.
"Traffic can move east only," said town attorney Larry Madison. "That's a short block and the traffic has been jammed up."
Since schools were back in session Monday, the council suspended the rules to get the ordinance in place more quickly.
"The signs should go up this week," said Mayor Jimmie Walker. "Meantime, our police is patrolling the area."
