Falkville band barbecue sale

HARTSELLE — The Falkville High School Band Boosters Association is hosting a barbecue sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Wal-Mart in Hartselle.

David Edmondson, association president, said Woodmen of the World of Falkville is handling the cooking and is offering Boston butts and ribs, plates and sandwiches.

Edmondson said proceeds will help purchase band uniforms.

Reform group plans awards luncheon

The Alabama Citizens for Constitution Reform Foundation will have its first Bailey Thomson awards luncheon Aug. 30 at the Harbert Center in Birmingham.

This event will celebrate the progress made in the movement to reform Alabama’s state constitution.

It will commemorate the life of Bailey Thomson, a former University of Alabama journalism professor and foundation founder. Cynthia Tucker, Alabama native and Pulitzer-prize-winning editorial editor of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, will be the keynote speaker.
