Firefighters battled a bevy of blazes in Limestone County during the weekend.

The first fire erupted in an attic at 22461 Fain Road in Elkmont, Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt said. The fire occurred at 2:31 a.m. on Saturday.

“The family got out safely,” McNatt said, “but the home was a total loss. The cause is under investigation.”

Two more fires broke out Sunday morning.

One was at the office of a mobile home park at 20048 Townsend Ford Road at 12:24 a.m. near the Pleasant Grove community in western Limestone County.

When Owens and Pleasant Grove volunteer firefighters arrived, flames were visible, said Owens firefighter Kevin Mulack. Firefighters were on the scene two hours.

Those living inside the office awoke to smoke, he said, but made it out safely. One firefighter received treatment for
minor scrapes and bruises on his arm.

The cause is under investigation.

The second fire erupted at 1:36 a.m. at 20096 Piney Chapel Road at an unoccupied dwelling.

Mulack said flames were
visible up to three miles away. Surrounding trees also caught fire. Piney Chapel and Elkmont volunteer firefighters responded.

The home was a complete loss.

McNatt said because that home was unoccupied, the Sheriff’s Department is investigating the fire.
