Minister arrested on child porn charges

HUNTSVILLE (AP) — The music minister at a Huntsville church on Wednesday turned himself into police on charges of possessing child porn.

Police said Matthew Stowe, 33, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography. Spokesman Wendell Johnson said Stowe was released from the Madison County jail on $10,000 bond.

Stowe was the minister of music at University Baptist Church in Huntsville. Police said Stowe resigned from his job at the church after the charges were filed.

Johnson said the investigation into Stowe began about a month ago after church officials contacted Hunstville police, who picked up a computer from the church.

Police then got a search warrant for Stowe’s home computer, where they found child pornography.
