The city has placed a weed abatement and junk notice on the property at 1217 19th Ave. S.E.

Hiding in plain sight

Location: 1217 19th Ave. S.E.

Description: A neighbor complained that a pile of rubbish and junk has been sitting in the yard near the street for several months. The neighbor said rats were on and around the pile. Grass needs mowing.

Owners: The Morgan County revenue commissioner's office lists Andres and Maricela Gonzalez as the owners. The Daily was unable to contact the owners for comment.

Ordinance: City ordinance requires the housing of discarded household furnishings, scrap or junk within an approved, enclosed structure. Property should be kept in such a manner as not to constitute a nuisance.

Responsible officials: The property is in City Councilman David Bolding's District 2. Michelle Gilliam-Jordan, director of the city's Community Development Department, said the department has a weed abatement and junk notice on the property.
