Traffic stops lead to 3 drug arrests

Drug charges landed three people in Lawrence County Jail cells Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Moulton police arrested Quinnenba Charbae Wess, 21, of Muscle Shoals,
and Sinclair Ziegler, 26, of Sheffield, and charged them with drug trafficking and first-degree possession of marijuana.

Police reports show the two were stopped for allegedly speeding on Alabama 157 at about 4:30 p.m.

Upon searching their vehicle — a rental that neither subject was on the contract for — officers allegedly found a quarter-pound of marijuana and 60 grams of cocaine.

Police also seized more than $1,800 cash. They valued the drugs at about $3,100.

The vehicle was returned to the rental company.

Wess and Ziegler remained in jail Saturday, with no bonds set.

Second stop

In another Lawrence County traffic stop, sheriff’s authorities arrested James Andrew Cagle, 64, of Douglasville, Ga., on Saturday and charged him with first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff’s authorities allegedly found a half-pound of marijuana separated into 1-ounce bags in Cagle’s vehicle during a routine traffic stop on Alabama 157.

Other items allegedly found in his car included rolling papers, digital scales and plastic sandwich bags.

Cagle was being held Saturday in the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $11,000 bond.
