Woman charged with check fraud

An Arab woman was re-leased from an out-of-county jail only to be taken immediately into custody by Decatur police.

Melissa Ann Henderson, 19, of 137 Marshall County 1839, Lot 5, was arrested by Decatur police Saturday and charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument.

Police reports allege Henderson stole checks from Cynthia Johnson and cashed them at Peoples Bank and Wal-Mart in Decatur.

Henderson was being held at the Decatur City Jail on Saturday awaiting resolution of two misdemeanor warrants.

Pending resolution, she was to be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $1,500 bond.
