Bull riding and free admission for children at Point Mallard

Children and adults alike can try their bull-riding skills at Point Mallard on Saturday.

The Country Western Jamboree at the J. Gilmer Blackburn Aquatic Center is among several specials for the park's final two weekends.

Saturday will feature free mechanical bull rides with a contest at 1 p.m. to see who can ride the longest.

At 2 p.m., Jeff Whitlow and the Old Barn Band will perform as spectators play games and learn to line dance.

Families can come back Sunday and get their children in for free.

The waterpark is offering complimentary admission for children 11 and younger on the two remaining Sundays of the park's season.

In addition, Sunday will have another discount sponsored by YellowBook. Any guest age 12 and older who wears the color yellow to the park and will get $2 off admission.

The telephone directory's staff also will provide games and activities throughout the day.

Labor Day will be the concluding day of the 2007 waterpark season, and all patrons can enter for $5 general admission that day. Children age 4 and under get in free.

The waterpark hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular admission is $15 for ages 12 and older and $10 for children 5 to 11. Children 4 and younger get in free. The cost for senior citizens (at least age 62) is $8.
