Students flock to Calhoun robotics event
More than 400 middle and high school students gathered Saturday at Calhoun Community College to get the nation’s first look at this year’s Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology robotics competition playing field.
Those attending represented 17 North Alabama schools, including Austin, Decatur, Athens Bible and Priceville high schools, and one Southern Tennessee school.
This year’s competition theme is “2021: A Robot Odyssey.” Following BEST’s tradition, the playing field design will be kept secret from other participating teams until they attend their local hub’s kickoff day.
The Tennessee Valley BEST competition will be Oct. 6 at Calhoun. Winners from the three state competitions will compete at the South’s BEST Robotics competition at Auburn University in November.
