Weekend brings much-needed rainfall
Badly needed rain totaled just under 1 inch during the weekend, and Monday brings a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service's Huntsville office, the Decatur area got 0.87 inch Saturday and 0.10 inch Sunday, mostly at night. This brings the area's August precipitation total to 1.32 inches. Monday's forecast has high temperatures in the low 90s and lows in the lower 70s at night, with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The remainder of the week shows temperatures staying in the 90s during the day and 70s at night with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. - Bayne Hughes
