Man allegedly floods Limestone jail cell
ATHENS — A Madison man allegedly flooded a portion of the Athens Police Department on Saturday, police said. Capt. Marty Bruce said Douglas Shane Mangus, 33, of 190 Shelton Road, Apartment 186, was in a holding cell after police charged him with two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle. Bruce said Mangus stole compact disc players and CDs from two vehicles on Vine Street. While in the cell, he allegedly broke a sprinkler head, Bruce said, flooding that cell. "The fire suppression system had to be drained until the sprinkler head was removed," he said. Police then added a charge of first-degree criminal mischief. Mangus was in Limestone County Jail on $4,000 bond. - Holly Hollman
