Tennessee authorities arrest man wanted for Elkmont robbery

ATHENS — Giles County, Tenn., authorities captured an Athens man wanted for robbery in Elkmont.

Limestone County Sheriff's Department Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt said Elkmont Police Chief Donnie Johns received a tip that the suspect was at a friend's house in Prospect, Tenn.

Limestone Lt. Brad Curnutt and the Giles County Sheriff's Department found their suspect at that home.

McNatt identified the suspect as Michael Eddie Harris, 48, of 23533 Berzett Road.

He said Harris allegedly robbed a woman in the Dollar General parking lot in Elkmont on Friday while she walked with her child and buggy to her car. McNatt said Harris allegedly had a T-shirt wrapped around his hand and indicated he had a gun.

Limestone has a warrant for his arrest for first-degree robbery. McNatt said Harris is a suspect in gas drive-offs.

Giles County authorities are holding him in lieu of $6,000 bond for probation violations. He was arrested there for a weapons violation and worthless checks.
