Calhoun humorist to speak at UNA convocation
FLORENCE — Randy Cross, a humorist and English professor at Calhoun Community College, will speak at The University of North Alabama’s 17th annual Fall Convocation on Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. in Norton Auditorium.
Cross is a UNA graduate, earned a doctorate from The University of Mississippi in English and has worked as a scholar for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. He taught American literature as a Senior Fulbright Scholar in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Lisbon, Portugal.
He is also a regionally known storyteller. His stories often involve growing up in St. Joseph, Tenn., teaching in South America and Europe and his experiences in North Alabama.
