Athens man allegedly exposes himself

ATHENS — If your lady friend is in jail, what do you do?

Well, don’t do what one Athens man is accused of doing.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt said Mickey Ray Sutton, 67, of 1402 N. Jefferson St., Athens, allegedly stood in the middle of Wheeler Street on Saturday night. Wheeler Street is on the west side of the Limestone County Jail.

He faced the female cell block, unzipped his pants and then exposed himself, McNatt said.

“Then he started masturbating, and the inmates told a corrections officer who went to look and saw him doing this,” McNatt said. “Apparently a female friend of his was incarcerated with us and that’s why he did it.”

Authorities got a warrant and arrested Sutton on Thursday on a charge of indecent exposure.

He is out of jail on $1,000 bond.
