Athens business owners report graffiti

ATHENS — Some Athens business owners found profanity and the score of the East Limestone-Athens football game painted on their windows over the weekend.

One business, U-Wash Laundromat on South Clinton Street, filed a police report and listed $250 in damage.

According to the reports, someone painted "F—- Athens" and the game's score, 7-6.

The owner discovered the graffiti Sunday. The two rivals played Saturday.

Athens police Lt. Floyd Johnson said other businesses had similar graffiti on their windows, but the businesses did not file reports.

"It was apparently East Limestone students, and their parents made them clean it up," Johnson said. Since the other businesses didn't file reports, he was not sure which businesses were victims.

No arrests have been made in the U-Wash case.
