Worker injured in 100-foot fall
Decatur EMS and MedFlight crews load a critically injured contractor aboard a medical helicopter following an accident at Bunge on Wednesday afternoon.
Lt. Frank DeButy, a Decatur police spokesman, said Kim Dodson, 56, is an employee of Insulation Refractory Service of Salado, Ark.
"He was working adjacent to a conveyor belt. He had a harness on. He was working up high. Somehow, the harness got caught in a conveyor belt and it flung him, according to the officer (at the scene), more than 100 feet to the ground.
"When he landed on the ground, his head landed on a board with nails sticking out of it," DeButy said.
Dodson remained in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital's neurological intensive care unit late Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
