Lions guarding the jail

Two lion statues stand guard over the driveway leading to the Morgan County Jail. Sheriff Greg Bartlett said maintenance workers and inmates completed beautification efforts this week that included installing the lions, as well placing benches, a fountain and two more lions on a newly constructed patio near the jail's entrance.

"We've still got a chain across front to let the concrete cure before we let anyone get on it, but it looks real nice," Bartlett said.

A citizen donated the statues and the fountain, and the County Commission authorized $3,000 to pour the concrete, Bartlett said.
