Man allegedly assaults ex-stepson

An altercation between Jackie Ray McAbee and his ex-stepson led to McAbee’s arrest Friday night.

Decatur police charged McAbee, 57, of 1802 Milligan St. S.W., with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault on the 17-year-old.

Police said McAbee forced entry into the home of the juvenile and his mother, who was not there, on Danville Road about 6:55 p.m. He allegedly attacked the teenager with a fixed-blade knife.

The juvenile escaped and called 911. He was transported to Decatur General Hospital, where he was treated.

Pending a bond hearing, McAbee is being held at the Decatur City Jail.
