Decatur celebrates Assisted Living Week

Decatur Mayor Don Kyle will join the rest of the nation to honor assisted-living facilities.

Country Cottage, one of these facilities, invites the community to witness Kyle reading a proclamation declaring Sept. 9-15 as National Assisted Living Week.

The reading will occur in Country Cottage’s Oakleaf Cottage, 2515 Old Moulton Road S.W., on Monday at 2 p.m.

Established by the National Center for Assisted Living, the 13th annual National Assisted Living Week focuses on the role of such facilities and how they increase the quality of life for their residents.

The initial day of the special week coincided with Grandparents’ Day on Sunday.
