Limestone County Commission
ATHENS — The Limestone County Commission took the following action Monday:
Approved passing on a 7 cents a month increase for solid waste disposal by BFI to customers, which will raise monthly rates to $11.03.
Approved spending $55,000 to put plant mix on Old School House Road south of Bethel Road, $110,000 to chip-seal Hays Mill Road and Pettusville Road, and $47,000 to chip-seal Wooley Springs Road.
Approved increasing the county’s contribution rate from 7.83 percent to 8.31 percent to cover the cost of a $300 lump-sum increase approved by the state Legislature. Limestone has 36 retirees.
Contracted with Information Engineering through Aug. 31, 2008, for computer and phone services for SISCO System at $125 per hour for the first 30 hours of support, then $135 an hour thereafter.
Approved paying $21,000 for additional costs related to Phase 3 of the Rails-to-Trails project.
Reappointed Don Mansell to the Pryor Field Airport Authority Board.
Accepted bids of $2.4005 a gallon for gas and $2.5447 a gallon for diesel from Campbell and Sons; and $154 per Sheriff’s Department uniform from McCain Uniforms.
Hired Leslie Ramsey as deputy.
Gave preliminary subdivision approval to Jerry McGlocklin Subdivision, York Lane; and final approval to Tim Pepper Subdivision, New Garden Road and Norman Lane.
