Mobile arrests 10 students after theft

MOBILE (AP) — Mobile police arrested 10 students at Causey Middle School on Tuesday afternoon and a Baker High student was expected to turn herself in Tuesday evening on charges related to a weekend break-in at O'Rourke Elementary School.

Eight of the Causey students were charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree receiving stolen property, and two were charged only with third-degree receiving stolen property, Mobile police spokeswoman Nancy Johnson said Tuesday in a statement.

The Baker student was expected to be charged with third-degree receiving stolen property.

Students

The Causey students included nine boys and one girl. All of them were 13 or 14 years old. They were being brought to Strickland Youth Center late Tuesday afternoon.

The Baker student, a girl, is 15.

The burglary at O'Rourke happened about 1 p.m. Saturday and was reported by school personnel Monday. The students apparently entered through a window. Four cameras, a laptop, an iPod docking station, a PlayStation, a set of school keys and $40 to $50 in cash were taken.
