Attempt to get teen to model bra may lead to prison term

From staff reports

HUNTSVILLE — A Madison County circuit judge convicted a Decatur insurance agent Wednesday of enticing a minor for immoral purposes, according to news reports.

Douglas Aube, 35, faced allegations that in March 2006 he approached a 15-year-old girl in Victoria's Secret in Madison Square Mall in Huntsville and asked her to model a bra for him.

Prosecutors said Aube, a former employee of State Farm Insurance Co. and father of three, approached the girl several times, followed her and offered her money to try on the garment, The Huntsville Times reported Wednesday.

Aube admitted to asking the girl to model the underwear but told police he never proposed any sexual contact with her, The Times reported.

The girl, now 16, told the court Tuesday that Aube, who had his fingernails painted pink, asked how she thought he would look wearing women's shorts. She said she became scared when Aube unbuttoned his shirt to reveal a pink camisole.

The girl said Aube never tried to touch her and never proposed any sexual contact but he did ask to go into a dressing room with her and asked if she wanted to go somewhere else to model the underwear.

Circuit Judge Karen Hall heard testimony in a non-jury trial Tuesday and rendered her verdict Wednesday afternoon.

Aube's sentence could range from one to 10 years in prison.
