Decatur Planning Commission

The Decatur Planning Commission on Tuesday:

  • Approved a request from Willie Jones to consolidate lots 21 and 22 of the Vine Street Phase 1 Redevelopment Project into one 0.34-acre lot, north of Cherry Street Northwest and west of Walnut Street.

  • Approved a request from JLS Associates Inc. to subdivide a 1.24-acre lot into a 0.63-acre lot and 0.61-acre lot, south of Eighth Street Southwest and west of Central Parkway Southwest.

  • Approved a request from John Gray to subdivide a 72.31-acre lot into an 18.89-acre lot and a 52.18-acre lot, south of Old Trinity Road and west of McEntire Lane.

  • Approved a request from Allen Hamilton and Brad Puckett to consolidate a 1.38-acre lot and a 34.72-acre lot into a 36.1-acre lot and to subdivide it into a 2.48-acre lot and a 33.62-acre lot, northwest of Burleson Mountain Road and east of Indian Hills Road Southeast.

  • Approved a request from Cathy and Larry Orr to consolidate two lots into a 0.15-acre lot, south of Olive Street Southeast and west of 18th Avenue Southeast.

  • Approved a request from J. Wayne and Karen Key to consolidate two lots at The Farm subdivision into a 0.72-acre lot, north of Appaloosa Lane and northwest of Saddlehorn Bend Southwest.

  • Approved a request from Nucor Steel to subdivide a 163.71-acre lot into eight tracts of varying sizes, north of Alabama 20 and east of Sewell Road.

  • Approved a request from David Peek to extend a $50,000 assurance bond to Nov. 30 for The Farm subdivision, south of Vestavia Drive Southwest and east of Spring Avenue.

  • Approved a request from Rich Littrell to extend a $45,009 assurance bond and a $69,550 assurance bond to Dec. 14 for Timberland Partners, south of Gordon Terry Parkway and west of McEntire Lane Southwest.

  • Approved a request from Vernon Lane to extend expiration of a $13,764 assurance bond and a $28,000 assurance bond to Dec. 15 for property south of Auburn Drive Southwest and west of Englewood Drive.

  • Approved a request from Clarence Swann Jr. to consolidate two lots into a 7.81-acre lot and subdivide it into a 2.01-acre lot, a 2.05-acre lot and a 3.54-acre lot, north of Deer Springs Road and west of Joe Davis Drive Southwest.

  • Approved a request from Nucor Steel to vacate a 5.14-acre utility right of way north of Alabama 20 and east of Sewell Road.

  • Approved a request from Brickyard Landing Inc. to vacate 0.77-acre right of way for Market Street Northwest, south of Island Way and north of Alabama 20.

  • Gave a favorable recommendation to a request from Nucor Steel to annex 111.5-acre lot into the city, north of Alabama 20 and east of Sewell Road.

  • Gave final approval to a request from Sims and Edmondson to subdivide a 66.5-acre lot into nine tracts of varying size for the Johnson Road Subdivision, north of Boys Ranch Road and west of Johnson Road.

  • Approved a request from John Mitchell to rezone about 2.73 acres from R-4 Multi Family to RD Mixed Use Redevelopment District, north of Alabama 20 and south of Island Way.

  • Approved a request to rezone four tracts totaling about 5.42 acres from R-2 Single Family to B-6 Business Office, on Modaus Road and east of Danville Road and west of Centron Drive Southwest.

  • Denied a request from Kent Lawrence to rezone about 6.98 acres from R-1E Single Family Estate to AG-1 Agricultural, north of Red Bank Road and west of Indian Hills Road Southeast.

  • Set a public hearing for 3.30 p.m. Oct. 23 to discuss amendments to the city’s parking requirements, site plan review requirements and zoning text for the R-1E Single Family Estate District.
