Riley schedules special election to fill Cullman County House seat

MONTGOMERY (AP) — A special election has been scheduled to fill the Alabama House seat in Cullman County that was vacated when former Rep. Neal Morrison was named interim president of Bevill State Community College.

Gov. Bob Riley on Thursday set dates for the special election in House District 12, which includes much of Cullman County.

The deadline for candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties to qualify is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3. The party primaries will be Nov. 13 and runoff elections, if necessary, will be Dec. 18. The general election is scheduled for Jan. 29.
