8-month-old girl found dead in SUV

MOBILE (AP) — An autopsy is planned on an 8-month-old girl found dead in her father’s sport utility vehicle.

Phong Tran, 27, of Mobile unintentionally left Kaleen Tran in his Dodge Durango after dropping his two other children off Thursday morning at Little Flower Catholic School, said police spokesman Officer Eric Gallichant.

Tran realized that his daughter was still in the SUV when he returned to Little Flower at 5:45 p.m. Thursday to pick his children up from after-school care, Gallichant said.

The National Weather Service said temperatures Thursday reached 89 degrees, and would have reached more than 100 degrees inside a vehicle.

The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy, Gallichant said.
