Tony Jones resigns Trinity council seat

By Ronnie Thomas

TRINITY — Trinity Town Councilman Tony Jones stunned fellow members Monday when he submitted his resignation effective Nov. 30.

Voters first elected him in 2000. He had no opposition in 2004.

Jones said he and his family are relocating to Napierville, Ill., a Chicago suburb. He said Boeing Co. promoted his wife, Andrea, human resource manager here, to a corporate position.

Jones, who has spent most of his life in Trinity, has worked more than 28 years at International Paper Co.

Mayor Vaughn Goodwin said anyone who would like to serve the remainder of Jones’ term should submit his or her name. He said he also welcomes residents making recommendations.

The next municipal elections are in August. Town Attorney Larry Madison said there is no time limit on the appointment.
