Benefit for injured West Limestone firefighter Oct. 6

SALEM — West Limestone firefighters are hosting a benefit to help one of their own.

West Limestone Volunteer Fire Department member Richard Stanley is recovering from an August motorcycle wreck.

Fire department member Pamela Vinson said Stanley is undergoing physical therapy and is unable to return to his job at Salem Garage.

He does not have insurance.

Stanley wrecked on Dupree Hollow Road and spent several weeks at Huntsville Hospital.

The benefit will be Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at the department on Alabama 99.

There will be goat and chicken stew, Boston butt and barbecue chicken plates, a bake sale and a silent auction.

The department is accepting donations for the auction.

To donate or for more information, call Chief Frankie Riggs at 232-1095 or the department at 233-5544.
