Hartselle captain graduates from FBI academy

HARTSELLE — Capt. Tom Sparks, a 12-year veteran of the Hartselle Police Department, has graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico, Va.

Sparks was among 287 law enforcement officers from across the nation to receive 10 weeks of advanced FBI training relating to investigation, management and fitness.

"We're extremely proud of Captain Sparks," Police Chief Ron Puckett said.

Sparks, a 1989 Austin High graduate, earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Athens State University in 1999 and a master's degree in justice and public safety from Auburn University Montgomery in 2001.

He resides in Hartselle with his wife LeeAnn and son Harrison.
