Moulton Mega Yard Sale this weekend

By Nancy Glasscock

MOULTON — If you are a yard sale sleuth, then you won't want to miss Moulton's Mega Yard Sale this weekend.

The yard sale, sponsored by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and the Board of Education, is 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Moulton Lions Club Fairgrounds.

The event was organized by Wanda Hood, a self-proclaimed yard sale enthusiast.

Hood and her family lost their home and all their belongings to a fire in July.

She said because the community responded so quickly, she decided to organize a yard sale to show her appreciation.

"I personally love yard sales and searching for treasure," she said.

"With the high cost of gas, I thought multiple yard sales located in a central location would be appealing to those who enjoy this type of shopping."

Admission to the Mega Yard Sale is $1 per person. Proceeds go to the Scholars Bowl.

"The Scholars Bowl involves the brightest in each county school," said Mike Terry, co-chair of the 2007 Scholars Bowl. "The students get very excited about the competition. They are as competitive with it as in other sporting events."

Moulton's Mega Yard Sale is set for the same weekend as the annual Highway 101 Yard Sale, where residents from Law-renceburg, Tenn., to Moulton hold yard sales.

From 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, the Moulton Lions Club is offering SWAMP JOHN'S dinners for $8 a plate.

The deadline to rent a booth for Moulton's yard sale was Monday.
