Athens teen charged with attempted murder

ATHENS — An Athens teen, released from the hospital after being shot, now is in jail on attempted murder and first-degree robbery charges.

Authorities arrested Castillo Dontae Carthen, 17, of 1001 Henry Drive, Apartment 1001, on Tuesday and charged him as an adult.

Limestone County Sheriff's Department Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt said Carthen allegedly participated in a robbery scheme at a home on Glaze Road.

The situation got violent when the victim, Brett Russell Williams, 19, of Athens, scuffled with Carthen, and Carthen allegedly fired, shooting them both in the leg.

Williams still is in Huntsville Hospital. The alleged accomplices — Dosha Leckeece Davis, 18, of 233 Lauderdale County 574, Rogersville; Savannah Pride, 19, of 20406 Easter Ferry Road, Elkmont; and Yamashita Patrice Mitchell, 18, of 9595 Pecan Lane, Athens — are in jail, charged with robbery. Further charges are pending.
