Target to open Tuesday

By Eric Fleischauer

Tuesday is the day, and Target is the place.

One year and 19 days after breaking ground, the Target store has a ribbon cutting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Once the ribbon is cut, the store will be open for business.

“The ribbon cutting is a chance for dignitaries, and for the public, to see how much we’ve accomplished,” said store manager John Randolph.

The grand opening is Oct. 14, and that’s when the new-store promotional sales begin.

Don’t worry, though. The cash registers will be running Tuesday until the store closes at 9 p.m.

Target opens daily at 8 a.m. It closes at 9 p.m. on Sundays and 10 p.m. the rest of the week.

In addition to the usual plethora of Target merchandise, the Decatur Target has a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut Express.

Target is the anchor of The Crossings of Decatur, located at the southeast corner of U.S. 67 and U.S. 31. The Crossings’ grand opening is also Oct. 14.
