Salvation Army Christmas signup

There's two days left to register for the Salvation Army Christmas Program.

The program assists low-income families with food for Christmas dinner and toys for children.

Applications for the assistance will be accepted through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Salvation Army gym, 114 14th St. S.W.

Applications must be made in person by the head of household or spouse.

Only one application per home may be made and will include all residents at that dwelling.

Applicants must provide identification for each household member, including birth certificates for children 13 and under.

Also required are a current rent and utility bill, proof of property taxes for any owned property, a phone number and verification of all income in the household.

Yard sale Saturday at Somerville park

SOMERVILLE — Somerville Town Clerk Regina Long said Wednesday that about half of 40 spaces remain for Saturday's community yard sale on Broad Street.

The sale, on a lot next to the library, will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 10-by-10-foot spaces rent for $15 each or two for $25.

Long said proceeds from the rentals will go toward the purchase of equipment for Somer-ville/Corr Wireless Celebration Park.

The town will offer concessions, with proceeds going toward renovation of the old courthouse.
