Teen charged in trafficking case

A teen caught with 20 pounds of marijuana and a loaded assault rifle faces charges as an adult, Decatur police said Wednesday.

Police charged Tremayne O’Neal Gilbert, 16, of 118 Eighth Ave. N.W., with trafficking marijuana.

When officers attempted to stop Gilbert’s vehicle early Saturday, Gilbert led patrol units on a lengthy chase that ended in the alleyway behind 1208 Eighth Street S.E., police said. Police said that once the vehicle stopped, Gilbert and a passenger ran.

Morgan County Jail released Gilbert on Tuesday on $25,000 bond.

The other occupant of the vehicle had not been caught.
