Priceville Town Council

PRICEVILLE — Priceville Town Council on Thursday:

  • Approved $7,000 Alabama Public Service Collection Development Grant for library. Friends of the Library will pay $1,750 match.

  • Approved $5,000 to library for book purchases during 2008.

  • Approved $1,000 to host the Morgan County Mayor’s Association dinner Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at JW Steakhouse.

  • Approved $300 for preliminary class sponsorship of the Alabama Charity Jubilee Horse Show on Oct. 25-27 at Celebration Arena to benefit Camp Smile-A-Mile.

  • Approved $83 lodging and other travel expenses for Mayor Melvin Duran to attend Alabama League of Municipalities committee meeting on state and federal legislation Nov. 8 in Montgomery.

  • Approved lodging and other travel expenses for Micheal Bell and Chip Spicer to attend seminar on confined space and trench safety sponsored by the Alabama Water and Pollution Control Association on Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Sylacauga.

  • Approved Sgt. Ron DeWeese to attend Attorney General Law Enforcement Summit on Oct. 16 in Montgomery.

  • Approved committee negotiating with low bidder J.A. Dawson & Co. of Pelham on upgrading Veterans Park playground.

  • Approved mayor signing proclamation from Crisis Services of North Alabama Inc. declaring October National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
